Mahindra XUV 3XO: A Game-Changer in the Compact SUV Segment

Mahindra has launched the latest Mahindra XUV 3XO, a compact SUV designed to offer great value in the budget crossover market. The XUV 3XO comes with a fresh look, improved features, and a refined interior. It aims to compete with top models in its segment by offering modern technology and a stylish design.

The exterior of the XUV 3XO is inspired by its larger sibling, the XUV 700. It has a bold front grille, round LED headlamps, and a sleek rear design with the XUV3XO badge. Mahindra has also updated its logo, giving the 3XO Mahindra a fresh identity. With its compact size and striking design, the SUV is perfect for city driving while still looking premium.

Inside, the Mahindra XUV 3XO offers a modern and comfortable cabin. It features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with wireless connectivity. The digital instrument cluster is stylish but sits deep in the dashboard, making it slightly hard to read. Other highlights include leather seats, a multifunction steering wheel, and plenty of storage compartments. The panoramic sunroof, one of the largest in this segment, adds to the premium feel. Dual-zone climate control and USB-C charging ports ensure a comfortable and convenient experience for passengers.

Under the hood, the XUV 3XO runs on a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine delivering 80 kW and 200 Nm of torque. Unlike other compact SUVs that use CVT or AMT transmissions, Mahindra offers a torque converter automatic gearbox in the XUV3XO. This makes driving more engaging, though gear shifts can be slightly jerky. Fuel efficiency is decent, averaging around 6 liters per 100 kilometers. While its predecessor, the XUV 300, had a diesel variant, the 3XO Mahindra is available only with petrol options. Despite this, the turbocharged engine ensures a smooth and responsive driving experience, making it great for both city and highway use.

Safety remains a priority in the XUV 3XO. It comes with several driver-assistance features, though some, like the collision warning system, may feel too sensitive. The stop-start system, which activates each time the car is restarted, can be slightly annoying for some drivers. However, the SUV does offer multiple airbags, parking sensors, and a reliable braking system. The infotainment system, while user-friendly, can occasionally lag.

For a compact SUV, the XUV3XO offers impressive practicality. The boot is spacious, with deep storage for long trips. Passengers also enjoy good legroom, making the XUV 3XO a comfortable choice for daily commutes and road trips.
Mahindra has positioned the XUV 3XO competitively in the market.

The base model is priced at approximately $254,000, while the top AX7L variant, featuring a Harman Kardon sound system, large sunroof, and digital displays, costs around $44,000 Rand.

Overall, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is a solid choice for buyers looking for a stylish, feature-packed compact SUV. While it has minor drawbacks like the sensitive stop-start system and occasional infotainment lag, its modern features, powerful turbo engine, and reasonable pricing make it a strong competitor. Whether for city drives or long trips, the XUV 3XO delivers great value and a premium feel in an affordable package.
