VF9 India Launch: Full Review of Features, Design, and Interior Experience

The VF9 has officially made its presence felt in India, with its press conference unveiling happening on June 18th. This marks the formal entry of the VinFast brand into the Indian automobile space, and the VF9 is their flagship product to lead the way. Right in front of us stands this bold and luxurious vehicle that resembles a limousine in both design and stature. From the front profile to its detailed interiors, this electric MPV is grabbing attention for all the right reasons.

Front Profile and Design Language of VF9

The VF9 carries a strong, futuristic presence right from its front end. The hood is one of its most interesting parts, featuring a thoughtfully designed air intake system that optimizes airflow. The bonnet shape reminds one of Mahindra’s XUV700 styling, reflecting a blend of international appeal with subtle regional familiarity. At the top of the windshield, a front camera has been placed for ADAS functionalities, adding to the vehicle’s high-tech character.

Moving towards the headlamps, you’ll find advanced Bi-functional LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) along with dual projector LED headlamps. The DRLs are connected across the front face, enhancing the width visually. The airflow from the hood continues through strategically placed vents, directing the wind up towards the windshield. At the center of the nose lies the VinFast emblem, paired with embedded front parking sensors and a front-view camera that ensures complete visibility. The lower grill features chrome and piano black finishes, while the radar for Level 2 ADAS is subtly embedded into the center.

VF9 Side Profile and Wheel Design

As the gaze moves to the side profile, the VF9 shows its strong stance. The vehicle’s length and wheel design speak volumes about its premium segment aspirations. It comes fitted with large 21-inch alloy wheels, similar in style to those seen on top-end electric vehicles. The tyre size is 275/40, emphasizing its road grip and stability. Despite its massive wheelbase, the approach angle of the VF9 is low enough that even a small footstep can touch the front bumper, indicating a more sedan-like clearance.

The side mirrors are body-colored with a piano black base and come with integrated turn indicators. They also house cameras for the 360-degree view system. The charging socket is located on the front fender and supports fast charging. You’ll find six parking sensors in total — some placed along the sides, ensuring maximum safety during tight maneuvers.

Flash door handles have been provided on both the front and rear doors, creating a clean, premium feel. The A and B pillars are coated in piano black, giving a seamless glasshouse look. The roofline continues in a smooth slope, only slightly tapering near the third row, which helps in maintaining good headroom at the front and mid-sections.

Rear Profile and Tail Light Design

Looking at the rear, the VF9 keeps things sharp and functional. At the top is a high-mounted brake lamp, but there’s no rear wiper — just a defogger. A shark fin antenna is mounted at the rear for signal reception. Interestingly, the rear slope forms more prominently near the third row, which slightly reduces headroom in that section. Even so, the overall rear styling looks balanced.

The tail lights do not follow a full-width connected design. Instead, the VinFast logo in the center breaks the connection, providing a split appearance. Chrome finishes around the rear reflectors add a touch of class. Two rear-view cameras are placed for better parking assistance, while another six parking sensors are found at the back for comprehensive coverage.

Interior Overview: Cabin of the VF9

Once you step inside, the VF9 surprises with its grand, luxurious interior. The dashboard is finished in a blend of black, brown, and soft-tone materials, giving it a refined, premium feel. A large infotainment screen dominates the centre, paired with a two-spoke steering wheel and physical control knobs in the central console. The gear selector and volume knobs are neatly placed around the armrest, which is large and well-cushioned.

The moonroof at the top adds to the luxury experience, although it’s not a panoramic sunroof. Even without the glass extending across the full length, the cabin feels airy and open.

Second and Third Row Configuration

In the second row, you’ll find two captain seats, offering superior comfort and individual armrests. Between these seats is a console with cup holders and controls. There’s a big screen provided for second-row passengers, along with USB ports and air vents located below it. This area is thoughtfully designed for rear passengers, creating a semi-lounge-like experience.

The third row, however, is a bit compact. The space is adequate for children or short adults but might not be very comfortable for long journeys. It uses a sofa-like connected bench seat. So, the seating configuration here is 2+2+3, making VF9 a proper 7-seater electric MPV.

Battery Pack and Dimensions

The VF9 is powered by a 123 kWh battery pack, one of the largest in its class. With this massive capacity, it promises an extended range, ideal for long-distance commutes and family road trips. The length of the car measures approximately 5.12 meters, placing it firmly in the full-size MPV category.

The steering wheel is placed on the right-hand side for Indian markets. The car still feels very international in terms of quality, materials, and design flow. While the interior is not entirely revealed yet, what we see so far is impressive.

Final Thoughts on the VF9 India Launch

VinFast has made a bold entry into the Indian market with the VF9, a vehicle that blends luxury, technology, and electric innovation. The attention to detail whether it’s in airflow management, connected lighting, seating arrangement, or the extensive use of sensors and cameras positions this car in the premium segment. The VF9 seems to be not just an electric vehicle but a statement about where modern electric mobility is heading in India.

From its 21-inch wheels and dual LED projectors to its massive 123 kWh battery and captain seat setup, the VF9 has arrived to make noise silently, of course. The price and exact specifications may soon follow, but the design and features already suggest that VinFast wants to compete with the best in this category.
